Printemps 2020 Olympus faisait ses adieux au monde de la photo en vendant son département image et son au fonds japonais Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). Aujourd’hui, les activités photo (et audio) connues sous le nom d’Olympus poursuivent leur route sous le nom OM SYSTEM.
Printemps 2020, Olympus annonçait se séparer de sa division Olympus imagerie Corporation en la cédant au fond d’investissement Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). Début 2021, le transfert était effectif et l’entité répondait au nom de OM Digital Solutions.
Dans un nouveau communiqué daté du 27 octobre 2021, OM Digital Solution annonce que l’ensemble des gammes de produits gérées anciennement sous la marque Olympus le seraient désormais sous celle de OM SYSTEM.
OM SYSTEM inclut les appareils photo à objectif interchangeable, les objectifs photo, les appareils photo compacts, les produits audio (notamment les enregistreurs), et les services qui y sont associés.
Dans son communiqué, OM Digital Solutions affirme son intention poursuivre les activités de la marque avec la gamme de produits existants et en en développent de nouveau, notamment au niveau du format Micro 4/3 (MFT pour Micro Four Thirds) un format développé et lancé en collaboration avec Panasonic.
